Community service is a good thing. It says that your a good hearted person and not selfish. Money isn’t everything so if you can help out an elderly person, your community or just anyone it says alot about your character, and who you are as a person. I havev’t done a hole lot of community service but it does feel good to help someone when they can’t do it or an organization.
Mobridge has set up places all over town that all help raise money for the West River Ranchers Relieve fund. Dairy Queen gives a dollar for every burger they sell to west river. The sale barn has had three auctions and have raise about 3500 dollars to the cause. The Mobridge ice fishing tournament has sold tickets and gave 1225 dollars and gave it to the ranchers. Places all over South Dakota being a farming state knows the hard ships that the ranchers are facing. Organizations and the communities are helping out. It is pretty cool that communities and organizations are doing so much to help out the cause.
Two weekends ago freezing rain and snow went through west river and all over the black hills. Ten thousand plus cattle died. The freezing rain froze up their nose and suffocated the cattle. Farmers out west are moving cattle and some are still sick but the cattle are coming out of it. The ranchers are making sure that the cattle are in good health and will survive in their new pasture
Fear, I guess I couldn’t come up with any experience that really scarred me not to do anything. When life gets tough you just have to face it head on and get through it. It may seem bad at the time but looking back it wasn’t that bad. All you have to do is keep an open mind, do what you’re told, and if it was to back fire or fail, there was is nothing you can do about it. It is over and done, nothing you can do about it now.
I feel that a four wheel drive tractor is needed in modern farming. Most farmers have a lot of farm ground. Having big equipment cuts the time down tremendous. They are able to cover way more ground, pull big air seeders chisels, rollers, everything imaginable. You have power, less soil compaction, and the comfort. They have the technology to be better on fuel, like the Case quad track has a cruise control almost. What it does is you run how fast you want to go and press the button and the tractor will set the gear to get the most fuel economy out of the tractor. All in all the modern day four wheel drive tractor is needed for farming, you can accomplish a lot more and they are just all around needed to produce the crops that are needed to feed the world.
Do you have you combine all ready to go? You may think so. Not having you combine and head set up properly you can loose about 1500 dollars in 1000 acres. If you were to walk around you’ll see seeds to half corn cobs just laying on the ground. Well there are six steps to prevent this! First step is to read the owners manual. Second step is pay attention to your header. Most farmers run their combine to fast to and they don’t allow time for the header to keep up causing loss in kernels. Step three is to make sure that your concave are level with the rotor. The owner manual will tell you how to do this. Step four is figure out where you are losing the grain. Step five is eliminate your tailing. Tailing are dust and residue that make it back into the elevator in the combine. Step six is to get rid of that. These six steps aren’t all that difficult and will save you money
With the drought last year it may be a good idea to shift to dry lots. That is where you feed the cattle until the crops come off and send them out to the field. They say you can feed them every two days and set out creep feed for them. For the grain you can mix distillers along with the silage, hay, or straw. This allows time for the pastures to grow back from last year and also take care of the crop leftovers off of the ground.
I’m usually a pretty friendly guy. I like to meet people. I like to visit with new people that i meet. If I’m going into the store and some one is right behind me i usually hold the door open for them. About the only thing i liked working at the Prairie Stop was meeting people and getting to know the regular people that would come in there. I know most everyone on a regular bases and i would be friendly and try to help them out the best i can. One time a guy came in after hours and he blew a fuse out on his truck and needed a test light. After everything was done i went home and got my test light and went and seen if we could figure it out.
This world needs more laid back people! This world needs hard workers and people that are just down to earth. I hate prissy people that think their shit doesn’t stink. This world needs parents that are willing to actually raise their kids and not let them run all over gods creation and not be disiplined.
The biggest road block in my life is getting threw school. I need to get threw high school, I had just got an internship with a diesel shop. If I show them that I am willing to work they will pay for my secondary eduaction. This is great for me so now I can dump more money into a tool box and tools. I need have to get threw high school.
